The Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA) is the government agency responsible for food, drug and medical device regulation in Saudi Arabia, headquartered in Riyadh and reporting directly to the Prime Minister. The main purpose of SFDA is to regulate, supervise and monitor food, drugs, medical devices, as well as to develop mandatory standards and specifications. The scope of supervision includes human food, drugs (including innovative drugs, generic drugs, health products, herbal medicines and cosmetics, etc.), medical devices and in vitro diagnostic devices, as well as biological and chemical substances, electronic products, etc. Ensure the safety, effectiveness and quality of these products and protect the public from harmful, low-quality, falsely claimed, counterfeit and useless products.
